Introduction
In early nineteen ninety, few visionary philanthropist persons mooted the idea of floating an educational trust for cause of education and teaching for social harmony and national integration. Swadeshi Education Trust was registered in Guwahati vide registered deed no. 1711 dtd. 15th June, 1994. It is a registered Trust within state of Assam. This trust is purely a Public Trust; only public at large will be the beneficiaries of the Trust without discrimination on ground of religion, caste, creed, colour, sex, language and nationality. No trustee will get any benefit from the Trust. The Trust fund, property, any other earning, donation etc. will be utilized only for the purpose of the Trust in furtherance of the objective of the Trust. Terms of office of trustees shall be two years and retiring trustee shall be eligible for re-appointment. Managing Trustee is elected for a particular period by members of Trust Board. Subject to the control and direction of the trustees, the Managing Trustee shall have the general conduct of the affairs of and management of the Trust.
Educational journey of this Trust begins immediately after its birth, with starting of Junior College in 1994 with science stream by name of Swadeshi Academy. In 1999, Commerce stream was added. Arts stream was also introduced at a later stage. This Junior Academy is affiliated to Assam Higher Secondary Education Council since its inception. This institution has been running for over thirty years with flying colour and it is a pioneer in the field in Assam. This Academy campus is established at an ideal and convenient place at Tarun Nagar. There are spacious class rooms, practical rooms, computer laboratory and other provisions of modern infrastructure required by students and teachers.
As the Trust is dedicated for development of education facilities it is aspiring to open new avenues for imparting education to the young generation. Addition of Swadeshi College of Commerce in 2003 is a step in the direction. The College is affiliated to the Gauhati University. It is centrally situated in G.S. Road, Ulubari and is well connected to every part of Guwahati city. The students of Commerce are expected to understand and analyse the structure of operation of world of business, recognize commercial data and arrive at informed judgement.
It was during Covid period, in one General Body Meeting (GBM) of Swadeshi Education Trust, a resolution was passed to start one Senior Secondary School under CBSE Curriculum. Idea behind was that with implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) all over the country there will be Renaissance in field of education. To cope up with this, there will be a growing demand for starting one Senior Secondary School at our newly developed campus at Hengerabari. To that effect, we approached the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam to start one school under C.B.S.E curriculum. In no time, we built up the required infrastructure as per guideline. Number of CBSE schools in entire North East region in general and Assam in particular is scanty so much so that the progressive Assam state govt. is planning to start the CBSE school in every constituency in Assam. We have been under tremendous pressure from guardians, students and our well wishers to accept the challenge to start one new CBSE Senior Secondary School in the heart of city of Guwahati. This has acted as a catalyst to stimulate our Trust to go for this mission all out. Our expertise in this field for over thirty years is our main treasure on which we are banking heavily.
